What is a hostname lookup?
A hostname lookup (forward DNS lookup) resolves a human-readable domain name into the numeric IP addresses that computers use to communicate. Every time your browser visits a website, it performs this type of lookup behind the scenes.
This tool queries both A records (IPv4 addresses) and AAAA records (IPv6 addresses), giving you the complete picture of how a domain is configured in DNS.
How to use this tool
- Enter a domain name (e.g.,
example.com) and click Resolve. - You can also paste a full URL — the tool automatically strips the scheme and path.
- View the resolved IPv4 (A) and IPv6 (AAAA) addresses.
- Use Copy to grab all results for use in other tools or documentation.
Common use cases
- DNS verification: Confirm that your domain points to the correct server after a DNS change or migration.
- Load balancing check: See all IPs behind a domain to verify round-robin or geo-based DNS distribution.
- Troubleshooting: Check if a website resolves correctly when users report connection issues.
- IPv6 readiness: Verify whether a domain has AAAA records for IPv6 connectivity.
