What are UTM Parameters?

Required Parameters

  • utm_source: Identifies the referrer (e.g., 'google', 'newsletter', 'facebook')

  • utm_campaign: Names the specific campaign (e.g., 'spring_sale', 'product_launch')

Optional Parameters

  • utm_term: Used for paid search to note the keywords for the ad
  • utm_content: Differentiates ads or links that point to the same URL (useful for A/B testing)

How to Use Campaign URLs

Step-by-Step Guide

  1. Enter your website URL in the "Website URL" field
  2. Fill in the required UTM parameters (Source, Medium, Campaign)
  3. Optionally add Term and Content parameters
  4. Click "Generate Campaign URL" to create your tracking URL
  5. Copy the generated URL and use it in your marketing campaigns
  6. View the results in Google Analytics under Acquisition → Campaigns
